• All requests for opening gates, opening data flows should be scrutinized for potential exploitation, data leaks.
• Customers can be challenged for business need.
• Deference to policy and process, escalation and appropriate sign off on non-standard asks or potential risky behavior
• Security and protection of the environment comes FIRST
• Day to day activities: ACL changes, port vlan changes, port enablement Troubleshooting routing issues, unresponsive devices, end user issues, ACLs Extreme attention to detail in planning, change management, documentation, adherence to process and communication.
• The bar is very high here as we need to document and show evidence of everything
• No cowboy-ing fixes or changes on the fly Work with customers to design and implement changes according to business needs Device maintenance - Regular updates, Performance monitoring, Availability/health monitoring
• Recommendations for upgrades, potential bottlenecks, growth forecasting WAN management/connectivity Implementing encryption protocols; jealously guarding all communication between all nodes Assist FTEs with network design
• Understand a building floor layout
• Connectivity between a central server room, IDF/MDF, edge switches and finally client devices 
• Build for redundancy and high availability
• Plan for OOB access with little to no on prem human assistance Secure login to network devices RADIUS/MFA
• Ensure all devices are highly protected, highly secure Peer review of changes
• High visibility to breaking changes
• High scrutiny on security
