Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications to support critical business operations
  • Enhance existing applications and perform maintenance and defect fixes across environments
  • Develop and maintain JCL scripts for batch processing and ensure timely execution
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and support batch and online job processing
  • Conduct impact analysis for code changes and system enhancements
  • Participate in testing cycles, ensuring all deliverables meet functional and technical requirements
  • Debug and resolve issues across development, testing, and production environments
  • Maintain and update technical documentation, including program logic and job workflows
  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions
  • Support production releases, including deployment and post-release stabilization
  • Follow change management, release management, and incident management processes
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, quality benchmarks, and compliance requirements
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Provide knowledge transfer and mentoring to junior team members
  • Support modernization or migration initiatives as needed
Required Technical & Functional Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, and mainframe utilities
  • Proven ability to design, develop, enhance, and support mainframe applications
  • Experience with batch processing, scheduling, and job control
  • Solid understanding of online and batch program development and support
  • Ability to analyze existing systems and perform impact analysis for enhancements and fixes
  • Experience in debugging and resolving production and non-production issues
  • Knowledge of restart/recovery processes and job failure handling
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies (unit, system, and UAT support)
  • Understanding of performance, reliability, and security standards in enterprise systems
  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid Agile-Waterfall environments
