Lead Services Engineer

We are seeking a Lead Services Engineer with strong expertise in modern cloud-native architectures, microservices, and distributed systems. This role requires deep hands-on engineering experience along with technical leadership responsibilities, including guiding development teams, ensuring end-to-end delivery, and driving scalable system design across enterprise-grade platforms.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, cloud-native microservices-based solutions.
• Architect and implement distributed systems using event-driven and API-first design principles.
• Build and maintain services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservice design patterns.
• Drive containerization and orchestration strategies using Docker and Kubernetes (including Kustomize).
• Implement and support CI/CD and GitOps workflows using tools such as Argo CD.
• Design and manage event-driven architectures using Kafka.
• Develop and optimize APIs including REST and GraphQL services.
• Work with NoSQL databases such as Couchbase and support relational database integrations.
• Ensure system reliability, performance, scalability, and resilience for large-scale customer-facing applications.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to distributed and offshore teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including senior leadership, product, and engineering teams.
• Ensure adherence to Agile practices and SDLC standards across delivery cycles.
• Own end-to-end delivery responsibility, ensuring solutions are implemented through production release.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• At least 2+ years in a technical leadership or lead engineering role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with Maven-based Spring/Spring Boot applications, including reactive programming (preferred).
• Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Kustomize.
• Experience with GitOps workflows and Argo CD.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with Couchbase or other NoSQL databases.
• Strong experience in API design, including REST and GraphQL.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts including eventual consistency and scalability patterns.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Experience working in Agile environments and following SDLC best practices.
• Proven ability to manage offshore teams and drive execution to completion.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with reactive programming frameworks such as WebFlux or Project Reactor.
• Experience with API gateway platforms such as Apigee or similar.
• Exposure to relational databases and stored procedure design.
• Experience working with vendor and third-party partner ecosystems.
• Familiarity with both web and mobile application development environments.
