As a z/OS System Programmer, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing the z/OS operating system environment. Your role involves ensuring the stability, security, and performance of mainframe systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with architects and other teams to design, implement, and optimize z/OS system components
- Evaluate system performance, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements.
- Manage databases on z/OS, including backup and recovery procedures
- Ensure data integrity, availability, and performance
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline repetitive tasks
- Monitor system metrics and automate routine functions.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of work experience.
- Solid understanding of system, application, and database design principles
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., COBOL, Assembler, PL/I)
- Proficiency in maintenance tools and procedures
- Strong database management skills, including backup and recovery
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
