We are seeking a skilled Web Engineer with expertise in bridging IBM iSeries (AS/400) backends with modern web architectures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in RPG programming, DB2/SQL Server databases, and modern software engineering practices. This role focuses on modernizing legacy systems, exposing high-volume DB2 datasets to web applications, and supporting the delivery of reliable, high-performance digital solutions, particularly in the healthcare domain.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and modernize RPG codebases on IBM iSeries (AS/400) systems.
- Expose DB2 datasets to modern web applications while maintaining legacy system reliability.
- Apply software engineering best practices including continuous integration (CI), automated testing, refactoring, and code reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile/Scrum environments to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Participate in the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) from requirements gathering to deployment.
- Optimize performance and ensure scalability of back-end services.
Required Qualifications
- 2–3 years of industry-specific experience (preferred).
- Strong understanding of IBM iSeries (AS/400) architecture and operations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in RPG programming language.
- Working knowledge of DB2 and SQL Server databases.
- 2–3 years of experience with software engineering best practices, including CI, unit testing, refactoring, and code reviews.
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies and participation in SDLC activities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience modernizing legacy systems and integrating them with web-based solutions.
- Familiarity with web service technologies (REST, SOAP) and API integration.
