We are seeking a passionate and skilled Web Accessibility Engineer to help build inclusive digital experiences. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve accessibility issues, contribute to accessible web development, and help drive a culture of accessibility across our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate design mockups to identify accessibility issues and recommend improvements to enhance usability for all users.
- Audit and remediate accessibility barriers in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript codebases.
- Develop and implement accessible components and experiences using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (including React).
- Prototype accessible user interfaces to demonstrate expected interactions and behaviors.
- Collaborate closely with designers, developers, QA, product managers, SEO specialists, and analysts to ensure accessibility is integrated throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop and propose innovative engineering solutions to address or prevent accessibility issues.
- Clearly communicate accessibility concerns and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Deliver presentations and training sessions to educate internal teams on accessibility best practices.
- Stay up to date and apply knowledge of relevant accessibility standards and specifications, including ARIA 1.2 and WCAG 2.2.
Key Qualifications
- Hands-on experience identifying and resolving accessibility issues in code and design.
- Strong understanding of front-end web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Experience with accessibility testing tools and assistive technologies such as:
- VoiceOver, Hover Text, Switch Control, Voice Control
- Invert Colors, Speak Screen, Reduce Motion
- Familiarity with accessibility standards:
- Experience working with React and version control systems like Git.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Required Skills
- Deep understanding of QA, analytics, and SEO in the context of accessibility.
- Proficiency with ARIA 1.2 and WCAG 2.2 specifications.
- Hands-on experience using accessibility features such as Switch Control, Voice Control, Invert Colors, Speak Screen, and Reduce Motion.
