Responsibilities

• Led and managed end-to-end migration projects from Sybase to Microsoft SQL Server, ensuring seamless data transition with minimal downtime.
• Analyze existing Sybase database schemas, stored procedures, and data models to formulate migration strategies and timelines.
• Develop and execute migration scripts, procedures, and automation tools to facilitate efficient data migration processes.
• Conduct thorough unit testing, integration testing, and validation of migrated data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and data integrity.
• Perform data comparison and reconciliation between Sybase and SQL Server databases to identify discrepancies and resolve data migration issues.
• Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database performance for Microsoft SQL Server post-migration to meet performance and scalability requirements.
• Document migration processes, technical specifications, and operational procedures for knowledge sharing and future reference.

Required Skills/Qualifications

• Experienced Database Migration Engineer who specializes in relocating & migrating Sybase databases to Microsoft SQL Server.
• Proven experience of 8+ years as a Database Migration Engineer, Database Administrator (DBA), or similar role with hands-on experience in Sybase to Microsoft SQL Server migrations.
• Industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Database Administrator Associate, Database Administrator, or similar credentials are preferred.
• Strong proficiency in database administration tasks, including database design, schema management, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security.
• Expertise in Linux/Unix operating systems, shell scripting, and database management on these platforms.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and Big Data technologies is advantageous.
• Experience in unit testing, integration testing, and validation methodologies for database migrations.
• Ability to utilize tools such as Redgate SQL Compare, Beyond Compare, or similar for data comparison and reconciliation.
