We are seeking a highly skilled Sunbird DCIM Engineer to manage and maintain data center infrastructure and structured cabling documentation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with DCIM platforms, structured cabling systems, and visualization tools, ensuring accurate asset tracking, capacity planning, and connectivity mapping across our data center environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain complete and accurate structured cabling documentation across fiber (SM/MM) and copper (Cat5e/6/6a) networks.
- Update and manage rack layouts, elevations, cabling paths, and network diagrams using AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio.
- Administer Sunbird DCIM (or equivalent) for asset tracking, capacity planning, and connectivity mapping.
- Document NIC card layouts, including patch panel connections, switch ports, MAC addresses, interface speeds, and interface roles (Prod/Mgmt/iDRAC).
- Maintain device inventory, firmware data, and DCIM model libraries to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Accurately log all moves, adds, changes, and deletions (MACD) and ensure reflection in DCIM systems.
- Support quarterly and annual audits, compliance checks, and overall data center governance activities.
- Collaborate with cabling vendors, network, and server teams to maintain end-to-end connectivity maps.
- Maintain and update device templates, rack layouts, and structured cabling databases for capacity planning and forecasting.
- Provide visual diagrams and documentation to support new deployments, expansions, or migrations.
Required Technical/Functional Skills
- Strong experience with structured cabling systems, including fiber (SM/MM) and copper (Cat5e/6/6a).
- Proficiency in cable documentation, labeling standards, and connectivity mapping.
- Hands-on experience with DCIM platforms, preferably Sunbird, for asset, capacity, and connectivity management.
- Ability to maintain accurate patching records, rack elevations, and device templates.
- Strong skills in AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio for rack, floor, and network diagramming.
- Experience mapping NIC ports, switch ports, MAC addresses, and interface roles.
- Understanding of firmware data currency, device models, templates, and configuration accuracy.
- Familiarity with workflow, change management, and MACD processes.
- Excellent attention to detail, documentation discipline, and audit readiness.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with network, server, and data center operations teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with data center operations or network engineering.
- Knowledge of capacity planning, asset lifecycle management, and structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA).
- Experience in data center compliance and audit preparation.
