Responsibilities

• Lead API design, development, and deployment using Apigee Edge, X, and Hybrid, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture.
• Architect and manage Apigee Hybrid runtime on Kubernetes (GKE, EKS, or OpenShift), including control plane integration, networking, and security configurations.
• Perform capacity planning and infrastructure sizing for Apigee Hybrid clusters based on traffic projections, IP/CIDR planning, and availability zones.
• Configure and maintain API policies for traffic management, transformation, caching, security (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, threat protection).
• Enforce API governance standards, proxy design conventions, and environment group strategies.
• Manage the full API lifecycle — design, mocking, publishing, testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and deprecation.
• Integrate Apigee with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) for automated deployments.
• Build and manage shared flows and reusable proxy patterns for cross-cutting concerns like logging, authentication, error handling.
• Use tools like kubectl, helm and monitoring platforms (Cloud Ops, Prometheus, ELK) to troubleshoot platform issues.
• Work closely with backend, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure runtime stability and integration success.
• Provide technical leadership, documentation, and mentoring to development and platform engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 8+ years of professional experience in API engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with Apigee Edge, Apigee X, and Apigee Hybrid.
• Proficient in REST, JSON, XML, and API security protocols like OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, SAML/SSO.
• Experience with Kubernetes operations — pods, services, namespaces, helm charts, IP/CIDR, and cluster management.
• Hands-on experience with DevOps/automation tools such as Maven, Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with backend integration techniques involving microservices and legacy systems.

Preferred Skills

• Experience setting up Apigee Hybrid on GKE, EKS, or OpenShift with focus on HA, TLS, and network design.
• Understanding of Cassandra database usage in Apigee Hybrid and troubleshooting synchronization/runtime issues.
• Knowledge of observability/logging tools like Fluent Bit, ELK, Splunk, Google Cloud Logging.
• Exposure to multi-region/hybrid cloud deployments, firewalling best practices, and IP address planning.
• Experience with developer portals, API onboarding workflows, and strategies to enhance developer experience.
