We are seeking a Senior Systems Simulation Engineer specializing in 3D-CFD propulsion system simulation with a focus on combustion system development. The engineer will be an integral part of the development team, responsible for guiding design teams, conducting advanced simulations, and ensuring propulsion system functional objectives are met.
Responsibilities
- Analyze combustion system designs and concepts to ensure functional requirements are achieved.
- Build and execute analytical models for internal combustion engines using commercial 3D CFD software (e.g., Converge).
- Provide component-level and system-level design recommendations to Design Responsible Engineers based on simulation results.
- Retrieve and modify CAD models of propulsion system components to develop CFD models.
- Collaborate with method development teams to enhance analysis practices/tools, improving fidelity and efficiency.
- Participate in design and development meetings; present analysis findings to engineering peers, chief engineers, and propulsion management.
- Document analysis objectives, results, assumptions, and conclusions in standardized reports.
- Partner with test engineers to enhance laboratory validation techniques and support first-time capable analysis approaches.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and competitive products.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, or Applied Physics.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in CFD simulations for propulsion systems with a strong focus on combustion system development (minimum of 3 years required).
- Proficiency in engineering analysis tools for propulsion systems modeling (e.g., Converge, Ansa, Star-CCM+).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
