Perform structural engineering and design for complex nuclear and industrial facilities.
Develop and evaluate structural systems with a focus on seismic qualification, seismic isolation, and dynamic analysis.
Perform structural calculations and analyses involving strength of materials, structural mechanics, seismic loads, impact loads, and other design conditions.
Apply applicable ASME Section III, ACI, ASCE, AISC, IBC, and related industry standards and codes.
Support modular design and development of Structures, Systems, and Components (SSCs).
Develop and review engineering models, calculations, specifications, and design drawings.
Collaborate with structural designers, manufacturers, and other engineering disciplines to develop practical design solutions.
Support geotechnical and geophysical engineering evaluations related to structural design and seismic performance.
Review designs for compliance with applicable nuclear industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Support interactions with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and other regulatory authorities as required.
Perform technical reviews and provide engineering recommendations with limited supervision.
Clearly communicate technical findings, design decisions, risks, and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering field.
7+ years of relevant structural engineering experience, including recent nuclear design project experience.
Strong experience with structural design, seismic analysis, and structural mechanics.
Experience with nuclear industry design or design-construction projects is highly desirable.
In-depth knowledge of strength of materials and structural engineering principles.
Experience performing seismic and impact-based dynamic analyses.
Experience with modular design and development of SSCs.
Familiarity with ASME Section III, ACI, ASCE, AISC, IBC, and related design standards.
Experience developing or reviewing engineering models and drawings.
Proficiency with relevant design software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Tekla, and Revit.
Ability to perform complex technical work with limited supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Prior experience working with NRC or other regulatory authorities is preferred.
