Job Description

The Senior Linux Engineer will lead the planning, design, development, implementation, and execution of Linux systems engineering within the company datacenter. This role is pivotal in identifying and adopting best-in-class development practices, designing and implementing platform enhancements, and recommending improvements to optimize performance and reliability.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Define, maintain, and manage the Linux "golden image" initiative across the organization.
  • Actively support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience through innovative solutions.
  • Design, implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot systems within designated areas.
  • Analyze and revise existing system logic and documentation as necessary.
  • Conduct tests and reviews of system designs to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to regional personnel, ensuring adherence to technical integration standards and documentation.
  • Review work plans and designs, offering insights and recommendations for improvements.

 

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive experience in UNIX/Linux engineering, acting as a subject matter expert.
  • Proficient in RPM tools (e.g., ip, dnf, nmcli) and package management (e.g., apt, Ubiquity, Debian installer, ufw).
  • Strong scripting skills in languages such as Perl, Bash, and Python.
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Puppet and Chef.
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, including Ansible and Terraform.
  • Familiarity with virtualization tools such as vCenter, VMware OVF Tool, and HashiCorp Vault and Packer.
  • Knowledge of CIS Workbench hardening and the Linux Test Project for eliciting test cases.
  • Working experience with TestRail for streamlining testing processes.
  • Proficiency in creating technical drawings and schematics using Lucidchart or Visio.
  • GitLab experience in creating workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and setting variables.
  • Experience in a SAFe/Agile environment utilizing Jira Portfolio/Jira Align for project management.
