The Senior Linux Engineer will lead the planning, design, development, implementation, and execution of Linux systems engineering within the company datacenter. This role is pivotal in identifying and adopting best-in-class development practices, designing and implementing platform enhancements, and recommending improvements to optimize performance and reliability.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Define, maintain, and manage the Linux "golden image" initiative across the organization.
- Actively support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience through innovative solutions.
- Design, implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot systems within designated areas.
- Analyze and revise existing system logic and documentation as necessary.
- Conduct tests and reviews of system designs to ensure functionality and performance.
- Provide technical support and guidance to regional personnel, ensuring adherence to technical integration standards and documentation.
- Review work plans and designs, offering insights and recommendations for improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Extensive experience in UNIX/Linux engineering, acting as a subject matter expert.
- Proficient in RPM tools (e.g., ip, dnf, nmcli) and package management (e.g., apt, Ubiquity, Debian installer, ufw).
- Strong scripting skills in languages such as Perl, Bash, and Python.
- Experience with configuration management tools like Puppet and Chef.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, including Ansible and Terraform.
- Familiarity with virtualization tools such as vCenter, VMware OVF Tool, and HashiCorp Vault and Packer.
- Knowledge of CIS Workbench hardening and the Linux Test Project for eliciting test cases.
- Working experience with TestRail for streamlining testing processes.
- Proficiency in creating technical drawings and schematics using Lucidchart or Visio.
- GitLab experience in creating workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and setting variables.
- Experience in a SAFe/Agile environment utilizing Jira Portfolio/Jira Align for project management.
