Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of GIS solutions using Smallworld Product Suite (latest versions) and Magik programming language.
• Architect and design scalable, efficient, and high-performance GIS applications to meet client requirements.
• Utilize hands-on experience with Magik to customize and enhance the functionality of the Smallworld GIS platform.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and functional designs.
• Oversee coding, testing, debugging, and deployment of GIS solutions. Ensure the quality of deliverables through rigorous testing and validation.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for all stages of the software development lifecycle, including design, coding standards, user manuals, and deployment guides.
• Act as a liaison between the client and the development team, ensuring continuous communication and understanding of project progress. Provide updates and troubleshoot any issues as they arise.
• Guide and mentor junior developers, provide technical leadership, and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
• Identify performance bottlenecks in GIS applications and implement optimization strategies to improve efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proficiency in Smallworld Product Suite (latest versions), with a focus on PNI and Electric Office.
• Hands-on experience with Magik programming language for development and customization.
• Strong understanding of GIS principles and experience delivering GIS-based solutions.
• Proven experience with the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Experience in solution architecture for scalable, enterprise-level GIS solutions.
• Familiarity with GIS tools, databases, and web-based GIS applications.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, including coordinating with cross-functional teams.
