We are looking for an experienced SAS Viya Engineer to design, deploy, and manage SAS Viya platforms in cloud and on-premises environments. The role involves ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability while supporting analytics teams and optimizing infrastructure.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design, architect, install, and configure SAS Viya deployments.
- Administer CAS and SAS Compute, including session management and resource allocation.
- Manage containerized workloads and Kubernetes resources (namespaces, ingress, storage, persistent volumes).
- Install, patch, upgrade, and validate SAS Viya releases.
- Monitor system health, logs, events, and resource utilization; perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
- Implement performance tuning, capacity planning, and infrastructure forecasting.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery, backup strategies, and perform recovery drills.
- Manage authentication/authorization (LDAP, Active Directory, SAML, OAuth) and implement encryption standards.
- Integrate SAS Viya with enterprise databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake).
- Automate administrative tasks using Python, Shell, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response; use Prometheus/Grafana for observability.
- Optimize cloud resource utilization and manage costs.
- Maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, and operational documentation.
- Support SAS Studio, Model Studio, and other Viya applications.
- Collaborate with storage, network, database, and security teams; participate in change management.
- Ensure compliance with IT governance, audits, and regulatory standards.
- Serve as an escalation point for production incidents and support migrations from legacy SAS environments.
Required Skills
- SAS Viya administration and architecture expertise.
- Experience with CAS, SAS Compute, and Kubernetes containerized workloads.
- Cloud and on-premises deployment experience (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Scripting for automation (Python, Shell).
- Knowledge of monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
- Enterprise database integration and secure connectivity.
- Performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery experience.
