Detailed Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Lead SAP Finance (R2R) Consultant with 10+ years of expertise in SAP Finance to lead the Record-to-Report (R2R) workstream in a large-scale global S/4HANA transformation initiative.

The role demands strong leadership in financial process transformation, global template standardization, and S/4HANA Finance solution architecture, ensuring alignment between business objectives, regulatory requirements, and SAP best practices.

 

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Transformation

•       Lead the R2R workstream in S/4HANA transformation programs (Greenfield/Brownfield/Selective Data Transition)

•       Define and drive global finance transformation strategy, including process standardization and harmonization

•       Own the global template design for R2R processes across regions

•       Partner with Finance leadership to align business vision with S/4HANA capabilities

 

Solution Architecture & Design

•       Own end-to-end S/4HANA Finance solution design for:

o       General Ledger (GL) with Universal Journal (ACDOCA)

o       Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR)

o       Asset Accounting (AA)

o       Cost Center Accounting & Profit Center Accounting

o       Internal Orders and Product Costing (if applicable)

•       Design chart of accounts harmonization, parallel accounting, and group reporting structures

•       Lead fit-gap workshops, blueprinting, and solution design sessions

•       Ensure adoption of S/4HANA standard best practices and simplifications

 

Global Template & Rollouts

•       Define and govern global finance template, ensuring consistency across countries

•       Lead multi-country rollouts, including localization for tax, statutory, and compliance requirements

•       Oversee cutover planning, financial data migration, and go-live strategy

•       Support hypercare and stabilization phases

 

Data Migration & Integration

•       Define and oversee finance data migration strategy (GL balances, open items, assets, CO data)

•       Collaborate with data teams to ensure data quality, reconciliation, and validation

•       Design integrations with:

o       MM (Procure-to-Pay)

o       SD (Order-to-Cash)

o       EWM, TM, and external systems

•       Manage interfaces, middleware, and financial reporting systems

 

Close Process & Reporting

•       Lead design and optimization of:

o       Financial closing processes (month-end/year-end)

o       Intercompany accounting and reconciliation

o       Group reporting and consolidation

•       Drive adoption of:

o       S/4HANA Fiori apps for finance

o       Embedded analytics and real-time reporting

 

Testing & Quality Governance

•       Define and govern testing strategy (SIT, UAT, regression)

•       Ensure financial accuracy, audit compliance, and control effectiveness

•       Identify and mitigate risks related to financial processes and compliance

 

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

•       Lead and mentor finance functional teams (onshore/offshore)

•       Act as trusted advisor to CFO organization and business stakeholders

•       Facilitate executive workshops and steering committee discussions

•       Manage system integrators, vendors, and cross-functional teams

 

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

•       Drive finance transformation through:

o       Automation (RPA, workflows)

o       Advanced analytics & real-time dashboards

o       Central Finance (if applicable)

•       Identify opportunities for process simplification and cost optimization

•       Promote digital finance capabilities aligned with SAP S/4HANA roadmap

 

Required Skills & Experience

 

Experience

•       10+ years of SAP Finance (FICO) experience, with strong focus on R2R processes

•       Proven leadership in S/4HANA Finance transformation programs

•       Experience in global template design and multi-country deployments

•       Strong exposure to financial closing, reporting, and compliance processes

 

Functional & Technical Expertise

•       Deep expertise in:

o       General Ledger, AP, AR, Asset Accounting

o       Universal Journal (ACDOCA)

o       Parallel accounting (IFRS, Local GAAP)

o       Intercompany reconciliation & group reporting

•       Strong understanding of integration with MM, SD, and controlling modules

•       Knowledge of:

o       Central Finance / Group Reporting (preferred)

o       Fiori apps and embedded analytics

 

Leadership & Soft Skills

•       Strong program leadership and ownership mindset

•       Excellent communication and executive stakeholder management skills

•       Ability to drive global alignment and change management

•       Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

 

Qualifications

•       Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field

•       Professional certifications (CA, CPA, CMA – preferred)

•       SAP S/4HANA Finance Certification (strongly preferred)

 

Preferred / Nice to Have

•       Experience with:

o       Central Finance or Finance Shared Services transformation

o       SAP Group Reporting / BPC / SAC

o       RISE with SAP / Cloud deployments

o       Agile/SAFe methodologies

•       Exposure to industries like Manufacturing, Pharma, Retail, or BFSI
