Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute reliability test plans, including mechanical stress tests (shock, drop, vibration), environmental, and fatigue testing.
  • Perform in-depth failure analysis using advanced techniques, including optical microscopy, x-ray/CT scans, scanning electron microscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and energy dispersive spectroscopy.
  • Apply statistical tools and models, such as Weibull++, JMP, and accelerated test models, to analyze experimental data and provide detailed insights into design features.
  • Lead Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOE) to identify high-risk failure modes and mitigate them through design improvements.
  • Design and develop new reliability tests, procedures, and specifications to address emerging challenges.
  • Quantify reliability risks and recommend mitigation strategies for new hardware programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle, providing insights from reliability testing to guide product improvements.
  • Research state-of-the-art technology to identify root causes of test failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present concise, detailed reliability test plans and reports, prioritizing tasks to meet challenging deadlines.
  • Drive innovative approaches to reliability challenges and continuously explore uncharted territories in hardware design and testing.

 

Required Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of mechanical assemblies and industry test standards (JEDEC, ASTM, IEEE).
  • Strong experience in reliability testing, including mechanical, environmental, and fatigue testing.
  • Proficient in failure analysis techniques such as optical microscopy, x-ray/CT scans, SEM, FTIR, mass spectrometry, and energy dispersive spectroscopy.
  • Expertise with statistical tools and models, including Weibull++, JMP, and accelerated test models.
  • Practical experience with FMEA and DOE methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Digital Image Correlation (DIC).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Confidence in navigating ambiguity and developing innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Strong passion for delivering groundbreaking technologies and exploring new frontiers.

 

Preferred Skills
  • Experience in the hardware product lifecycle from concept to field returns.
  • Background in collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance product reliability and durability.
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers in reliability testing and failure analysis.
