The Release Train Engineer (RTE) serves as a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART), guiding teams through PI Planning, execution, and alignment with enterprise strategy. The RTE drives continuous improvement and optimizes value flow using Lean-Agile tools and techniques.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead two-day PI planning events, prepare ART backlog, and ensure alignment with enterprise strategy and OKRs.
- Track ART flow metrics (velocity, cycle time, predictability) and facilitate key ART syncs (Coach Sync, PO Sync, I&A, System Demos).
- Guide Scrum Masters, Product Managers, Architects, and Business Owners, using powerful questions to drive self-discovery and improvement.
- Establish pull systems, map value streams, and remove cross-team dependencies to enhance value delivery.
- Lead TeamHealth assessments, I&A events, and promote built-in quality and DevOps practices.
- Foster a culture of openness, empower teams in decision-making, and deliver presentations to large audiences.
