Roles and Responsibilities

• Manage, configure, and optimize Progress OpenEdge databases, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance.
• Lead and participate in migrations from HP-UX to Linux environments, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
• Support the transition of OpenEdge databases into the AWS cloud, optimizing for cloud performance and scalability.
• Perform routine performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization of OpenEdge databases and related systems.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute upgrades and patches for OpenEdge databases and environments, ensuring compatibility and minimal disruption.
• Implement and maintain disaster recovery strategies, including backups and recovery procedures, for OpenEdge databases.
• Work closely with other IT teams, developers, and engineers to ensure seamless integrations and performance of OpenEdge databases.
• Diagnose and resolve database issues, including system failures, performance bottlenecks, and security concerns.

Requirements

• Strong experience working with Progress OpenEdge databases (preferably versions 11.x or later).
• Proven experience with system migrations (HP-UX to Linux) and transitioning databases to AWS.
• Expertise in Linux, HP-UX, and AWS environments.
• Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high availability solutions.
• Proficiency in SQL, shell scripting, and other database maintenance tasks.
• Solid understanding of AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, etc.) and how to optimize databases for cloud infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to lead successful migrations, especially HP-UX to Linux and on-prem to cloud transitions.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to resolve complex database and system issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
