Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced NOMAD Mainframe SME / Administrator with deep expertise in NOMAD 4GL (Select Business Solutions) and enterprise mainframe environments. The role will serve as the primary technical SME for NOMAD, supporting application development, platform administration, troubleshooting, upgrades, and legacy modernization initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience across both mainframe infrastructure and application development support, including z/VM and mainframe database technologies.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary SME for the NOMAD 4GL environment.

  • Administer, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade NOMAD platforms.

  • Support developers using NOMAD for application development and data access.

  • Provide mainframe administration and z/VM support.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams on platform stability, performance, and maintenance.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve NOMAD application and infrastructure issues.

  • Perform performance tuning and support mainframe upgrades and implementations.

  • Evaluate legacy architecture and recommend modernization and migration strategies.

  • Support potential migration of NOMAD applications to alternative technologies.

  • Document technical processes, standards, configurations, and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Deep hands-on expertise with NOMAD 4GL (Select Business Solutions).

  • Strong mainframe administration and production support experience.

  • Experience with z/VM environments.

  • Strong knowledge of mainframe data technologies, including:

    • DB2/MVS

    • DB2/VM

    • IMS

    • IDMS

    • Adabas

    • Teradata

    • VSAM

    • QSAM

  • Experience supporting application development and data access.

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and performance tuning skills.

  • Experience with NOMAD/mainframe upgrades, implementations, and maintenance.

  • Experience supporting legacy application modernization or migration initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience serving as a technical SME or lead in large enterprise mainframe environments.

  • Experience planning or executing migrations from legacy mainframe tools and applications.

  • Strong understanding of legacy modernization strategies.

  • Ability to work effectively across development, infrastructure, and architecture teams.

  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
