Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Node.js Lead to join our engineering team in Irving, TX. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical leader with strong expertise in Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, REST APIs, Microservices, cloud technologies, and modern backend development.
The Node.js Lead will be responsible for leading technical design and development, mentoring engineers, establishing development best practices, and delivering highly scalable, secure, and reliable enterprise applications.
This is a 100% onsite position in Irving, TX, and candidates must be local to the Dallas/Irving area and able to work onsite from day one.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable backend applications using Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.

Provide hands-on technical leadership throughout the complete software development lifecycle.

Design and develop RESTful APIs, Microservices, and event-driven applications.

Lead and mentor a team of Node.js/backend developers.

Review technical designs, architecture, code, and development practices.

Establish coding standards, development guidelines, and reusable design patterns.

Work closely with Solution Architects, Product Managers, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams.

Translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Design and optimize application architecture for performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

Troubleshoot complex application and production issues and perform root-cause analysis.

Participate in architecture and technical design discussions.

Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms using technologies such as OAuth 2.0 and JWT.

Develop and maintain high-quality APIs and backend services.

Optimize database queries, application performance, and service response times.

Support CI/CD processes and automated deployments.

Ensure applications meet enterprise security, quality, and performance standards.

Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Technical Skills
-
8+ years of software development experience with strong hands-on Node.js experience.

Strong expertise in Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.

Hands-on experience with Express.js, NestJS, or similar Node.js frameworks.

Strong experience developing REST APIs and Microservices.
-
Strong understanding of asynchronous programming and event-driven architecture.

Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, or similar.

Experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

Experience with Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.

Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, design patterns, and application architecture.

Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, Chai, or Supertest.

Experience working with production applications and resolving complex technical issues.

Strong understanding of API security, authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices.
Preferred Skills

Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging/event-streaming platforms.

Experience with Redis or other caching technologies.

Knowledge of GraphQL.

Experience with AWS Lambda / Serverless architecture.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
