Job Description
Essential Job Functions
  • Provide engineering support for data links and networking interoperability.
  • Design, develop, manufacture, integrate, test, and deploy subsystems components focused on air-to-air and air-to-ground communications.
  • Assist in the design, development, integration, and testing of data link messaging, including J-Series, K-Series, and VMF messages.
  • Ensure compliance with MIL-STD-6016 and MIL-STD-6017 standards.
  • Develop and sustain network architectures that support mission requirements.
  • Facilitate processes required to obtain Air Force Systems Interoperability Testing (AFSIT) and Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) certifications.
  • Provide advisory assistance and draft documentation for reviews and studies related to performance requirements.
  • Support modifications that impact flight mechanics and system-level integration.
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders to provide knowledge and guidance on systems integration.
  • Produce artifacts that support Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E) assessments, airworthiness certification per MIL-HDBK-516, and safety per MIL-STD-882.
  • Ensure adherence to AFI 63-1201 for Life Cycle Systems Engineering throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in networking engineering, with a focus on data links and communication systems.
  • Proficiency in data link protocols and messaging standards (J-Series, K-Series, VMF).
  • Knowledge of military standards such as MIL-STD-6016, MIL-STD-6017, MIL-HDBK-516, and MIL-STD-882.
  • Experience with network architecture design and integration.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, Security+) are preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft technical documentation and present findings clearly.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and government stakeholders.
