Primary Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Netezza systems, including user management, roles, and security configurations.
• Monitor system performance, health, and resource utilization, ensuring high availability and stability.
• Optimize query performance, manage distribution keys, and tune zone maps for efficiency.
• Manage workload balancing and query concurrency across multiple users and processes.
• Perform backup and recovery operations to protect data integrity and minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to support data loading, transformation, and query optimization.
• Troubleshoot system issues, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures.

Required Qualifications

• Strong understanding of Netezza architecture, including SPUs, S-Blades, FPGA acceleration, and query distribution.
• Hands-on experience with system administration, including user/role management and security configuration.
• Proven expertise in performance tuning and workload management within Netezza or similar MPP (Massively Parallel Processing) systems.
• Solid knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery best practices.
• Familiarity with SQL, scripting (e.g., Bash, Python), and database performance monitoring tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with IBM Netezza Performance Server (NPS) or IBM Cloud Pak for Data.
• Knowledge of data warehouse design principles and ETL processes.
• Exposure to Linux/UNIX environments and automation scripting.
• Understanding of cloud-based data architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP).
