Job Description
Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical engineering activities across multiple projects, including design, development, and testing of complex mechanical systems, structural components, and equipment assemblies.
  • Define engineering design requirements and ensure alignment with program objectives using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles.
  • Perform feasibility studies, prototype development, and design validation testing to ensure technical robustness.
  • Oversee and contribute to detailed mechanical designs, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, technicians, and junior engineers to achieve project milestones and resolve technical challenges.
  • Act as the technical authority for troubleshooting and resolving complex mechanical system issues.
  • Drive design innovation to improve performance, maintainability, manufacturability, and reliability in harsh/rugged environments.
  • Review, prepare, and approve technical documentation including engineering reports, test procedures, and variance analysis.
  • Interface with program management to communicate technical risks, propose solutions, and ensure alignment with delivery objectives.
  • Lead vendor technical evaluations and review procurement and supplier deliverables for compliance.
  • Participate in and lead design reviews, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building team technical capability.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, analysis, and testing.
Technical Skills
  • Strong expertise in materials science and material selection for mechanical/structural systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or AutoCAD.
  • Experience designing mechanical components including enclosures, mounts, multi-part assemblies, heat exchangers, and structural systems.
  • Strong knowledge of thermal analysis, stress analysis, vibration, and fatigue analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes: machining, additive manufacturing, welding, and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electro-mechanical drawings for system integration.
Additional Skills
  • Experience leading cross-functional or multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong technical documentation skills (test plans, specifications, technical reports).
  • Ability to manage technical risks and deliver within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder presentation skills
