We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Support Engineer with strong experience in production support, batch processing, and mainframe technologies. The role involves handling L2/L3 support activities, ensuring smooth batch operations, incident resolution within SLAs, and effective coordination with business and technical teams in a production environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide L2/L3 production support for mainframe applications and systems
- Perform incident triage, analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution within defined SLAs
- Execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) and runbooks for recurring issues and operational tasks
- Monitor and support batch job execution, including investigation and resolution of job abends
- Perform DB2 data analysis and generate reports to support business and technical needs
- Maintain and update operational documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles
- Coordinate incident management activities, including communication with business users and technical teams
- Ensure effective engagement with cross-functional stakeholders for issue resolution and service restoration
- Support workforce management processes, including time reporting and overtime equalization activities where applicable
Required Technical / Functional Skills
- Strong experience in COBOL, DB2, VSAM, Batch Processing, and Reporting
- Exposure to C# and VB.NET applications in support or integration environments
- Hands-on experience in mainframe production support and operations
- Strong understanding of DB2 data analysis and querying for reporting and troubleshooting
- Experience in batch job monitoring, scheduling, and abend resolution
