Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain IBM CICS Transaction Server and IBM MQ on z/OS.
  • Monitor and optimize performance, including response time and resource utilization.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, including transaction abends and performance bottlenecks.
  • Execute version upgrades and apply regular maintenance to ensure platform stability.
  • Implement and manage security configurations to safeguard mainframe resources.
  • Proactively monitor system health to ensure high availability and minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with application development and operations teams to resolve incidents and deliver enhancements.
  • Develop and implement automation solutions using scripting to improve operational efficiency.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Mainframe Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with IBM z/OS environments.
  • CICS and MQ Proficiency: Deep knowledge and working experience with IBM CICS TS and IBM MQ installation, configuration, and administration.
  • Performance Tuning: Ability to analyze system and application performance and apply necessary tuning.
  • z/OS Utilities: Proficient in JCL, TSO/ISPF, and other standard mainframe tools.
  • Problem Solving: Skilled in debugging, dump analysis, and resolving complex system issues.
  • Scripting & Automation: Experience with REXX, CLIST, or High-Level Assembler (HLASM) for system tasks and automation.
  • Mainframe Tools: Familiarity with utilities like FileAid, SyncSort, and performance monitoring tools such as Strobe, Omegamon, etc.
  • Change Management: Exposure to software change management tools such as CA Endevor is a plus.

 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a regulated industry (e.g., finance, healthcare).
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • ITIL or other process framework knowledge is a plus.
