Mainframe CICS & MQ Administrator

Core Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM MQ and CICS TS environments.
• Create and manage MQ objects including Queue Managers, Queues, Channels, Topics, and Process Definitions.
• Monitor and troubleshoot MQ environments using MQ Explorer, Omegamon, TEPS, and SMF statistics.
• Support MQ clustering, queue sharing groups, queue manager migrations, DLQ automation, and performance tuning.
• Administer CICS TS v5.x/v6.x and CICSPlex environments including CPSM support.
• Perform RDO activities, trace setup, dump analysis, storage management, and shutdown statistics analysis.
• Support Web Services in CICS and z/OS Connect integrations.
• Install and maintain tools such as Tivoli/Omegamon, Intertest/Symdump, FileAid, and Splunk.
• Collaborate with IBM/ISV vendors for incident resolution and escalations.
• Provide 24x7 production support and participate in on-call rotations.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in IBM MQ Administration on z/OS.
• Expertise in CICS TS administration and CICSPlex management.
• Knowledge of MQ clustering, queue sharing, performance tuning, and monitoring.
• Experience with z/OS environments and mainframe support tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

• Knowledge of MQSeries/MQ Clients on distributed platforms.
• Familiarity with JCL, VSAM, ISPF, and COBOL.
