We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Ansible and CIS hardening. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Linux system administration, security hardening, and automation using Python and Shell scripting. This role involves hands-on execution in production environments, supporting operational automation, and maintaining high standards of system security and configuration compliance.
Core Responsibilities
- Administer and troubleshoot Linux systems in production environments.
- Design, develop, and maintain automation using Ansible (critical requirement) for configuration management and orchestration.
- Implement and maintain Linux security hardening in line with CIS benchmarks and best practices.
- Write and troubleshoot Python and Shell (Bash) scripts for automation and operational support.
- Conduct firewall assessments, system-side hardening, and security configuration activities.
- Support CI/CD processes with automation and operational support.
- Manage operational tasks in a ticket-driven environment, including incidents and service requests.
- Follow change management processes, including approvals and participation in change meetings.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including runbooks, operational guides, and SOPs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance, reliability, and performance of Linux environments.
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience in Linux system administration and troubleshooting in production environments.
- Advanced knowledge of Ansible for automation, configuration management, and orchestration (dealbreaker).
- Proficiency in Python and Shell scripting (Bash).
- Hands-on experience in Linux security hardening and configuration best practices (dealbreaker).
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and operational automation support.
- Experience with operational and process management in ticket-driven environments.
- Solid understanding of change management processes and documentation best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise data centers or colocation environments.
- Exposure to enterprise monitoring, logging, and configuration compliance tools.
- Familiarity with structured IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
