Roles and Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL).
• Perform system upgrades and patches in a timely manner, ensuring minimal service disruption.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and logs to identify potential issues and proactively resolve them.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
• Configure and manage system services such as web servers (Apache, Nginx), databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL), and file systems (NFS, Samba).
• Set up and maintain backups, including monitoring backup processes and performing restores when necessary.
• Automate system tasks with scripts (Shell, Python, etc.) to improve system efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
• Implement and maintain system security measures, including firewall configurations, intrusion detection systems, and ensuring compliance with security standards.
• Configure and troubleshoot networking components, including DNS, DHCP, VPN, and routing.
• Manage IP addresses, subnets, and network interfaces.
• Respond to system alerts and performance issues, providing timely resolutions.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues across the Linux environment.
• Assist in capacity planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
• Develop and maintain scripts for server provisioning, configuration, and automation.

Required Skills/Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Linux-based operating systems (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, Debian, etc.).
• Experience with server management and configuration tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
• Hands-on experience with shell scripting (Bash, Python).
• Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS, SSH).
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Understanding of system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus).
• Strong understanding of system security practices and experience with hardening Linux systems.
• Experience with virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, KVM, Hyper-V).
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Linux servers, applications, and networks. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.).
• Knowledge of database management and optimization (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with log management and analysis tools (e.g., ELK Stack, Splunk).
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC), or similar certifications.
