Job Description
Role and Responsibilities
  • Design and oversee the architecture for EMR integration solutions, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Develop and implement integration strategies for EMR systems, facilitating communication between various healthcare applications and data sources.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, clinical staff, and external vendors, to gather requirements and ensure that integration solutions meet user needs.
  • Ensure that all integration solutions comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, HL7, FHIR) and maintain the highest levels of data security and privacy.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, guiding them through integration design and implementation phases.
  • Identify and resolve integration issues, providing ongoing support and optimization of EMR systems.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for integration processes, workflows, and technical specifications.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends related to EMR integration, recommending improvements and enhancements as necessary.

 

Required Skills/Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare IT, with a focus on EMR integration and interoperability.
  • Strong knowledge of integration standards (HL7, FHIR, CCD) and technologies (API development, ETL processes).
  • Familiarity with clinical workflows and healthcare data models.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering high-quality integration solutions.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing integration projects from conception to execution.

 

Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CHDA, CPHIMS) are a plus.
  • Familiarity with major EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and third-party integration tools.
  • Experience with Agile project management methodologies.
