Roles and Responsibilities
- Deploy new Isilon nodes, configure network settings, create storage pools, and set up file system access controls.
- Analyze and optimize existing storage pools and processes to improve performance and efficiency.
- Monitor and analyze storage performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and make necessary adjustments to optimize data throughput and latency.
- Proactively manage storage usage, plan for future capacity needs, and implement data lifecycle policies for efficient storage utilization.
- Implement data replication strategies, create snapshots, and manage backup procedures to safeguard against data loss.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Isilon hardware, software, network connectivity, and file system access.
- Enforce security policies, including user access controls and data encryption, on the Isilon cluster.
- Apply firmware updates and software patches to maintain system stability, security, and functionality.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of Isilon configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Required Skills
- In-depth knowledge of Dell EMC Isilon storage systems and OneFS operating system.
- Expertise in network protocols like NFS and CIFS.
- Strong experience with storage management tools and interfaces.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools like Chef and Puppet.
- Strong understanding of data protection strategies and best practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a storage environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and manage data migrations and system implementations.
