Job Description
Role Overview

The IBM Infosphere Data Replication Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing real-time data replication solutions across heterogeneous environments. This role ensures high availability, low latency, and data consistency, while supporting enterprise migrations, modernization initiatives, and cloud adoption.


Key Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, and manage real-time data replication solutions using IBM InfoSphere Data Replication (IIDR / CDC / Q Replication).
  • Lead end-to-end project execution: requirements gathering, solution design, deployment, testing, and production support.
  • Configure CDC replication for multiple data sources and targets including IMS DB, DB2, CockroachDB, Oracle, Kafka, and IBM MQ.
  • Ensure replication frameworks are scalable, reliable, and performant.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and automation for replication health, latency, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot replication issues, perform root-cause analysis, and optimize pipelines for high availability.
  • Develop scripts and tools for automation, monitoring, and performance tuning (Linux/Unix, shell scripting).
  • Establish and enforce best practices, governance, and enterprise data standards.
  • Collaborate with architects, DBAs, platform engineers, and onshore/offshore teams.
  • Support cloud or hybrid migrations by designing fault-tolerant, replicable data flows.
  • Document architectures, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Mentor junior team members and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Ensure security, compliance, and data integrity across all replication pipelines.

Required Technical Skills

Primary: IIDR / CDC / Q Replication, Real-time data replication, CDC configuration (IMS DB, DB2, CockroachDB, Oracle, Kafka, IBM MQ), Monitoring & troubleshooting, High availability & performance tuning
Secondary: Linux/Unix, shell scripting, Git, Jenkins, Cloud basics (AWS/Azure/GCP), ETL & data integration basics, Strong communication & collaboration


Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in data replication, database administration, or related roles.
