GitHub DevOps Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain build and deployment pipelines for languages including Java, Python, NodeJS (experience with .NET and Go is a plus).

• Administer GitHub Enterprise (GHES), including GitHub Actions, self-hosted runners, reusable workflows, and GitHub Apps.

• Develop automation scripts and tools using Python, Java, or other languages to streamline DevOps tasks.

• Leverage GitHub Advanced Security (GHAS) tooling to ensure secure code practices.

• Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters, including deployment, monitoring, scaling, and resource allocation.

• Integrate and maintain DevOps tools for continuous integration and deployment (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible).

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud infrastructure, containerization, and CI/CD workflows.

• Ensure compliance with enterprise Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) standards and best practices.

• Collaborate with development and operations teams to implement DevSecOps principles, ensuring secure, efficient, and reliable software delivery.

Required Technical Skills

• Expertise in GitHub Enterprise Administration, including GHES upgrades, replication, disaster recovery, and internal service optimization.

• Strong programming/scripting skills (Python, Java, GitHub REST/GraphQL APIs, GitHub CLI).

• Experience with CI/CD automation using GitHub Actions and Jenkins.

• Proficient in Kubernetes management (kubectl, Helm, Rancher) and containerization (Docker).

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible) and cloud platforms (GH Cloud, GCP).

• Solid understanding of DevOps and DevSecOps principles, secure execution environments, and enterprise workflow orchestration.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on experience with GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, and microservices architectures.

• Proven experience managing self-hosted runners, scalable CI/CD pipelines, and reusable workflows.

• Strong understanding of enterprise SDLC, source control management (Git), and DevOps best practices.

• Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
