Primary Responsibilities
- Optimize, troubleshoot, and design electrical equipment for safe, reliable, and profitable operations (480V to 230kV).
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify and implement reliability improvements and repairs.
- Design and specify electrical components (motors, breakers, relays, transformers, substations, etc.).
- Coordinate projects for new or replacement equipment across multiple teams.
- Provide commissioning and startup support for electrical systems.
- Serve as a liaison between project engineers, plant maintenance, and operations.
- Ensure electrical reliability while minimizing maintenance costs.
- Conduct power systems simulations, including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, arc flash, and relay coordination.
- Lead and ensure contractors’ electrical work meets project specifications.
- Develop and review design basis memorandums, specifications, and project scoping for electrical systems.
- Participate in risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Manage electrical area classification and safety standards within the facility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in petrochemical or oil & gas industries, with a focus on power systems.
- Oil & Gas background
- Substations, transformers, and maintenance experience
- Refinery and reliability expertise
Desirable Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities for electrical systems.
- Knowledge of Electrical Safety standards (API, NFPA, NEC, NETA).
- Familiarity with SKM Modeling, System Studies, and Coordination.
- Willingness to travel for equipment construction or repairs.
- Awareness of safety and environmental regulations in petrochemical production.
