Desktop Platform Integration & Engineer is responsible for Windows Desktop Engineering in support of Assistive Technology Solutions within the WSS Organization. The position is primarily focused on Windows Desktop Engineering with a strong focus on platform and product integration. The position is highly technical and hands-on with a focus on Windows Desktop Assistive Technology Products and Implementation. The ideal candidate will have a very strong technical foundation as well as a strategic mindset, good communication skills, and the ability to collaborate well with others.
Responsibilities
- Liaison with Vendors to Manage Product Lifecycles and resolve escalated application issues related to Assistive Technology Products.
- Create automation scripts (using PowerShell, VBScript, etc.)
- Evaluate Desktop Products and Tools and provide solutions to support integration initiatives.
- Creation of test case scenarios based on environmental considerations (Supported hardware models, Application profiles).
- Creation and maintenance of Application Support Documentation.
Required Experience
- Extensive knowledge of Windows Operating System Internals and Microsoft-based applications and technologies
- Experience with Assistive Technology Software and Hardware Products such as JAWS, ZoomText, Fusion, NVDA, Dragon, Duxbury, Kurzweil, and Assistive Hardware Solutions.
- Deep technical understanding of Windows infrastructure services (e.g. AD, GPO, CIFS, DFS) and Web Browser Technologies within the enterprise.
- Experience managing system and user configuration across large, distributed environments.
- Strong scripting knowledge (PowerShell is a priority – additionally Batch, WMI, VBScript, etc.), Software Integration, Packaging, Distribution, and Patch Management using MSI, SCCM.
- Ability to write technical and operational management documentation (system design and engineering documents, operational run books)
- Experience with virtualization technologies (i.e. VMware, XenServer, Citrix) is a plus.
- Experience in monitoring tools for Networks and Workstations, including but not limited to SevOne, Perfmon, SysTrack, and Splunk is a plus.
