Key Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day administration of all DB2 environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Implement and maintain security protocols for database access and user management.
• Develop and manage backup and recovery procedures to protect data integrity.
• Assist in the design and development of database structures, including the conversion of segmented to universal tablespaces.
• Conduct capacity and capability planning to ensure resources meet current and future demands.
• Monitor and tune database performance, implementing changes as necessary to optimize efficiency.
• Use DB2 tools such as DB2 Interactive (Command Level, DCLGEN, SPUFI), Omegamon, and utilities like LOAD/UNLOAD, BIND/REBIND/FREE, IMAGE COPY, REORG, RUNSTATS.
• Track important batch jobs for status and performance on a daily, weekly, monthly, and on-demand basis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in DB2 administration on mainframe systems, with a strong focus on performance tuning and capacity planning.
• Proficiency with IBM MVS tools including JCL, TSO, ISPF, FILEAID, XMIT, FTP, NDM, SAR, SDSF, ChangeMan, and InfoMan.
• Familiarity with Windows desktop client tools such as IBM DB2 Client, DbArtisan, and Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word, Outlook).
• IBM Certified Administrator - Db2 12 for z/OS Fundamentals or IBM Associate Certified DBA - Db2 12 for z/OS Fundamentals is required.
