Job Description
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement DB2 database solutions that meet business requirements and support application development initiatives.
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning and optimization strategies to improve efficiency and responsiveness.
  • Create and maintain data models, ensuring that they align with business needs and technical specifications.
  • Establish and enforce security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity and availability.
  • Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to support database integration and application performance.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database architectures, processes, and configurations.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators and developers on best practices and new technologies.

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in database architecture, with a strong focus on DB2.
  • Deep knowledge of DB2 database management systems (DB2 for z/OS, DB2 LUW, etc.)
  • Proficiency in SQL and database scripting
  • Experience with performance tuning and optimization tools
  • Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex database issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Relevant DB2 certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Database Administrator) are preferred.
