Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize production, development, and test databases.
• Troubleshoot database issues and ensure high performance.
• Manage backups, disaster recovery, and database security protocols.
• Implement security practices and ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Monitor and address security risks.
• Plan for database growth and optimize resource utilization.
• Analyze usage trends and recommend system upgrades.
• Work with development teams to optimize database schemas and application performance.
• Support smooth integration of database changes into production.
• Use monitoring tools to track database performance and generate regular reports.
• Proactively identify and resolve performance issues.
• Stay current with database technologies and recommend improvements.
• Plan and execute database migrations or upgrades.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 8+ years in database administration, 2+ years in a leadership role.
• Strong SQL and database optimization experience.
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Strong problem-solving and communication abilities.
• Oracle, Microsoft, or cloud database certifications.
