Position Overview
The Data Steward will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, quality, and compliance of enterprise data by implementing and monitoring record retention policies, managing data quality issues, and supporting regulatory reporting requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of data governance, data management principles, and hands-on experience in data quality management.
Required Technical/Functional Skills
- Strong experience with Record Retention and Deletion policies.
- Solid understanding of Data Management and Data Governance concepts, including metadata, data lineage, and data quality.
- 2–5 years of experience in Data Quality Management.
- Intermediate competency in SQL and Python (or equivalent programming language).
- Strong familiarity with data architecture and/or data modeling concepts.
- 2–5 years of experience working with Agile or SAFe project methodologies.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Identify, implement, and manage Record Retention and Deletion policies.
- Assess data-related risks and implement controls for key business processes, including risks related to data quality, retention, movement, stewardship, protection, and sharing.
- Detect and analyze data quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive remediation of audit or regulatory findings.
- Develop deep knowledge of enterprise data-related policies and serve as the policy expert for assigned business units, educating teams on policy implications.
- Monitor and ensure holistic platform data quality, including critical data elements.
- Collaborate with product managers to ensure new use cases adhere to data policies.
- Contribute to strategic enhancements of data assessment processes and analytical tools.
- Communicate and resolve data quality issues proactively.
- Support current regulatory reporting needs, coordinating with upstream data providers, downstream business partners, and technology teams.
- Serve as a subject matter expert across multiple platforms.
- Partner with the Data Steward Manager to develop and maintain the data compliance roadmap.
