Responsibilities

• Analyze legacy systems and applications to understand existing data structures and define migration requirements.
• Design and implement data migration strategies for application modernization or cloud transitions, particularly on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Develop ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using tools such as Informatica, Talend, Alteryx, or custom scripts.
• Collaborate with application owners, DBAs, and business analysts to ensure accurate data mapping, transformation logic, and business rule adherence.
• Execute and support data cleansing, validation, and reconciliation activities to ensure data integrity throughout the migration process.
• Monitor migration progress, identify and resolve data issues, and optimize performance for large data volumes.
• Document migration plans, data flow diagrams, transformation rules, and validation procedures.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards, following organizational and regulatory guidelines.
• Support post-migration testing, data verification, and user acceptance testing (UAT) processes.
• Provide ongoing support during cutover and stabilization phases of migration projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in data migration, data engineering, or database administration.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience with relational databases including Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2.
• Experience with application migration projects in enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, Alteryx, or equivalent.
• Understanding of data governance, data quality, and compliance principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams.
