We are seeking a highly skilled Commvault Backup Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing comprehensive backup and recovery strategies across diverse workloads and environments. You will leverage your expertise in Commvault, Rubrik, Avamar, Data Domain, and native Azure backup capabilities to ensure business continuity and data integrity.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement backup and recovery solutions for various platforms (Windows, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V, SQL, Oracle, Exchange, SharePoint, etc.).
- Utilize Azure services like Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, and Azure Migrate to create robust disaster recovery plans.
- Proactively troubleshoot backup and recovery issues, performing root cause analysis and providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Work closely with infrastructure, security, application, and business teams to align backup and recovery requirements with organizational standards and best practices.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of backup and recovery policies, procedures, and configurations. Provide training and guidance to engineering and support staff.
- Assess and recommend new backup and recovery technologies. Participate in proof of concepts and pilot projects to evaluate solutions.
- Monitor backup and recovery performance, capacity, and SLAs. Provide proactive maintenance and reporting on system health and efficiency.
- Implement backup and recovery security measures including encryption, authentication, authorization, and auditing.
- Manage configuration and drift prevention through automation, scripting, policies, schedules, and retention strategies.
- Contribute to backup and recovery roadmap planning, focusing on capacity, performance, scalability, and availability.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of IT experience.
- 6-7 years specifically in backup and recovery engineering/architecture.
- Expertise in Commvault, Rubrik, Avamar, Data Domain, and native Azure backup capabilities.
- Familiarity with disaster recovery concepts within Azure.
- Strong knowledge of backup and recovery security and hardening practices.
- Proficiency in automation tools and scripting technologies (PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform).
- Experience with Azure Cloud, Azure DevOps, Windows, VMware, RHEL, Ubuntu, Kubernetes, and Docker containers.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
