Roles and Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, operate, and scale multi-region CockroachDB clusters in production.
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and data consistency across global deployments.
• Monitor cluster health, latency, replication, and resource utilization.
• Perform capacity planning and proactive scaling.
• Troubleshoot complex issues including node failures, network partitions, replication lag, hotspotting, and performance bottlenecks.
• Design and implement disaster recovery, backup/restore, and point-in-time recovery strategies.
• Automate provisioning, scaling, patching, and rolling upgrades with minimal downtime.
• Optimize SQL queries and database schema for distributed workloads.
• Create operational runbooks and participate in on-call and incident response.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience with CockroachDB in production.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and SQL performance tuning.
• Experience with observability tools, cloud platforms, and Linux environments.
• Proven ability to operate and support mission-critical databases at scale.
