Key Responsibilities

• Design, write, test, and maintain COBOL programs to support business processes.
• Ensure legacy systems operate efficiently and contribute to system modernization projects.
• Write structured and efficient COBOL code based on system and business requirements.
• Perform testing to ensure COBOL applications function as expected.
• Create and maintain documentation, including specifications, flowcharts, and procedures.
• Ensure COBOL programs meet industry standards, security protocols, and best practices.
• Support migration and modernization efforts for COBOL and mainframe systems.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in COBOL (COBOL-85, COBOL II, or later versions).
• Experience with mainframe environments (IBM z/OS, OS/390, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of JCL and other mainframe utilities.
• Experience with databases like DB2 and VSAM.
• Ability to write, modify, and maintain COBOL programs.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience debugging COBOL programs using tools like Xpediter and Abend-AID.
• Familiarity with version control and deployment processes in mainframe environments.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of other mainframe languages such as Assembler, IMS, and PL/1.
