Cloud Platform Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer with strong experience supporting Azure-hosted business applications and cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with Azure infrastructure, Windows Server, Azure SQL Managed Instance, application deployments, CI/CD, automation, and platform operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, upgrade, patch, and administer enterprise and vendor applications across development, non-production, disaster recovery, and production environments.

• Support application platforms hosted on Azure Windows Server VMs and Azure SQL Managed Instance.

• Ensure application readiness, reliability, performance, security, supportability, and lifecycle management.

• Configure Windows services, IIS, scheduled tasks, middleware, certificates, service accounts, and application components.

• Develop repeatable deployment, validation, cutover, rollback, and environment transition processes.

• Troubleshoot application, Windows, SQL, integration, connectivity, storage, and configuration issues.

• Monitor and optimize application performance, capacity, and resource utilization.

• Collaborate with development, database, security, cloud engineering, vendors, and business teams.

Automation & DevOps

• Develop and maintain GitHub Actions workflows for deployments, releases, configuration, database changes, validation, approvals, and rollback.

• Use Terraform to provision and manage Azure environments and supporting cloud resources.

• Develop PowerShell and other automation scripts for environment setup, patching, health checks, configuration validation, and operational tasks.

• Implement reusable deployment packages, configuration standards, automated testing, and release controls.

• Troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines, deployment failures, dependencies, artifacts, Terraform state, and configuration issues.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure API Management and Azure App Service.

• Strong experience supporting applications on Azure Windows Server VMs and Azure SQL Managed Instance.

• Experience with application installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, troubleshooting, and production support.

• Proficiency with GitHub, GitHub Actions, Terraform, PowerShell, Git, CI/CD, and release management.

• Knowledge of Windows services, IIS, scheduled tasks, certificates, service accounts, SQL diagnostics, backup/restore, and application connectivity.

• Experience with performance tuning, monitoring, capacity planning, root cause analysis, and technical documentation.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of Azure Cloud Architecture and Cloud Solution Architecture.

• Experience with energy trading, ETRM/CTRM, market data, risk, scheduling, logistics, settlement, or pricing platforms.

• Experience with RightAngle, TriplePoint, PlanLogic, Endur, ZEMA, or similar enterprise applications.

• Knowledge of Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, Splunk, REST APIs, middleware, messaging, .NET, Python, or Bash.

• Experience with Snowflake Cloud Data Migration Testing.

• Familiarity with ITIL, change management, SOX controls, audit readiness, disaster recovery, and regulated environments.

• Relevant Azure, GitHub, Terraform, or SQL certifications.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, MIS, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

• 5+ years of experience in cloud platform engineering, DevOps, application operations, SRE, or related technical roles.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting Azure-hosted Windows and SQL-based applications.

• Proven experience delivering application deployments, upgrades, automation, operational readiness, and cloud platform improvements.
