We are seeking a Business SME with specialized experience in document accessibility and system integration to ensure compliance with accessibility standards. This role requires expertise in using a variety of tools and technologies to ensure that documents, including PDFs, web pages, and Microsoft Office files, meet or exceed applicable accessibility criteria.
Key Responsibilities
- Use tools like Adobe Acrobat, CommonLook, and similar software to remediate PDF documents, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.
- Remediate Microsoft Office documents and web pages for accessibility compliance as needed.
- Utilize screen readers (e.g., JAWS, Narrator, NVDA) and other assistive technologies to manually verify that documents are functional and equitable.
- Support and fulfill accessibility accommodation requests from external stakeholders to ensure inclusivity.
- Track and report on the progress of document remediation activities, ensuring deadlines and standards are met.
- Monitor and review updated or new accessibility standards (such as Section 508, WCAG, PDF/UA) to ensure ongoing compliance.
Primary Skills
- Experience in auditing and remediating documents for accessibility compliance using tools like Adobe Acrobat/Pro and CommonLook.
- 1-3 years of hands-on experience using screen reader tools (JAWS, NVDA, Narrator, etc.) and performing manual accessibility testing.
- 4-6 years of experience working with Adobe Acrobat/Pro and Microsoft Office to remediate documents for accessibility.
- Strong organizational, time management, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to independently identify issues and develop solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Accessibility Standards: Familiarity with standards like Section 508, WCAG, and PDF/UA.
- Experience in Accessibility Compliance: Demonstrated experience in accessibility standards and compliance processes, especially related to document remediation.
