This role focuses on analyzing business, science, engineering, and other data processing challenges and finding ways to apply them to electronic data processing systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for gathering user requirements, reviewing computer system capabilities, and identifying opportunities to automate or enhance existing systems.
Responsibilities
- Work with business units to gather and document requirements, then translate these into actionable plans for programmers and developers.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their information processing and computational needs.
- Prepare cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses to guide system implementation decisions.
- Conduct interviews, surveys, and observe job performance to understand how information is processed and identify areas for improvement.
- Coordinate and integrate computer systems across the organization to ensure compatibility and facilitate data sharing.
- Work closely with management to ensure alignment on system principles and goals.
- Expand or modify existing systems to meet new business needs and improve workflow efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to analyze complex systems and propose effective solutions.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in system analysis and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with design principles and production of technical documentation. Proficiency in software tools such as Visual Basic, Java, SQL, etc.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required.
- MBA or other advanced degrees are preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in business systems analysis or a related field.
