We are seeking a skilled BIM Engineer to support 2D-to-3D modeling projects in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Autodesk Revit, BIM workflows, and shipbuilding infrastructure, and will be responsible for developing accurate 3D models, documentation, and coordination for complex construction projects.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Convert 2D construction documents (plans, elevations, details, survey data, structural reports) into accurate 3D BIM models.
- Develop LOD 300 architectural 3D models for:
- Dining halls
- Crew and passenger cabins (standard, accessible, premium)
- Corridors and circulation zones
- Create architectural documentation including plans, sections, elevations, reflected ceiling plans (RCPs), details, and schedules.
- Model interior elements such as doors, partitions, ceilings, floor finishes, furniture (sofas, chairs, tables), lighting (chandeliers, focus/downlights), casework, signage, and accessories.
- Collaborate with project architects and consultants for design coordination and issue resolution.
- Create parametric Revit families (RFA) for furniture, lighting, appliances, accessories, and ceiling components, adhering to company standards, naming conventions, shared parameters, and performance constraints.
- Maintain BIM coordination: ensure model accuracy, manage worksets, view templates, and uphold BIM standards.
- Support clash detection using Navisworks (NWC exports) and resolve architectural issues.
- Prepare project deliverables in multiple formats (RVT, RFA, RTE/RFT, IFC, DWG/DXF, NWC, NWD, DWF/DWFx) and follow the BIM Execution Plan (BEP), QA checklists, and client standards.
- Collaborate with onsite and offshore teams in an integrated BIM workflow.
- Attend client meetings and maintain direct interface with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, including hands-on experience with Revit API (C#, Dynamo scripting, or Python).
- Experience with 3D model handling, BIM data workflows, and file formats (RVT, IFC, DWG/DXF, NWC/NWD).
- Understanding of ACC / cloud computing platforms for BIM collaboration.
- Good understanding of shipbuilding infrastructure and layout planning.
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience creating parametric families and performing advanced Revit modeling.
- Familiarity with clash detection and model coordination in large-scale shipbuilding or architectural projects.
- Previous exposure to client-facing roles within BIM projects.
