Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Analyze AWS cost and usage data across business units to identify cost patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Work closely with engineering, DevOps, cloud operations, and finance teams to implement cost allocation strategies, tagging policies, and chargeback models.
  • Develop and maintain AWS cost dashboards and reports using AWS Cost Explorer, CUR, and third-party FinOps tools.
  • Provide cost optimization recommendations, including rightsizing, savings plans, reserved instances, and spot instances.
  • Establish FinOps best practices, including budget governance, anomaly detection, and cost accountability frameworks.
  • Ensure alignment of cloud spending with business goals by coordinating with teams using AWS resources.
  • Implement accurate cost allocation methods for departmental, project, and workload-level tracking.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis to ensure cloud service adoption aligns with IT financial goals.
  • Monitor AWS credits, discounts, enterprise agreements, and reserved capacity purchases to optimize cost efficiency.
  • Support capacity planning and forecasting to inform financial and cloud budgeting decisions.
  • Automate cost optimization workflows using AWS Lambda, AWS Budgets, and other FinOps tools.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to align cost governance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in cloud financial management strategies and overall cost governance.

 

Required Skills and Experience
  • Proficiency in AWS FinOps tools like AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Cost and Usage Reports (CUR), AWS Budgets, AWS Cost Anomaly Detection, AWS Cost Categories.
  • Experience with AWS Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot Instances, and Compute Optimizer.
  • Strong understanding of cloud financial management, budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, and chargeback models.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, and cloud reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Expertise in implementing cost optimization strategies and anomaly detection mechanisms.
  • Experience with AWS Lambda for automating financial management workflows.
  • Strong communication skills for stakeholder management and finance coordination.
  • Deep understanding of cloud governance, cloud security, and compliance requirements.

 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in engineering, DevOps, and finance.
  • Knowledge of FinOps best practices and cloud cost optimization methodologies.
  • Strong capacity planning and financial forecasting capabilities.
