Apigee Developer

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy API proxies, policies, products, developer apps, and shared flows on Apigee Edge or X.

• Implement and enforce API security standards, including OAuth 2.0/OIDC, JWT, and mTLS.

• Configure rate limiting, caching, and error-handling strategies to ensure high-performance APIs.

• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Apigee using Maven, apigeetool, apigeecli, Apigee Deploy Plugins, and Git workflows.

• Manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for Apigee environments using Terraform, apigee-config-maven-plugin, or Apigee X Config API.

• Configure and maintain developer portals (Apigee Portal, Drupal, Next-Gen Portal) and streamline API onboarding workflows.

• Write clean, maintainable code in JavaScript and at least one additional programming language such as Java, Python, or Node.js.

• Collaborate with teams to define REST API specifications, OpenAPI/Swagger definitions, JSON/XML schema validation, and best practices.

• Leverage cloud platforms (preferably GCP, AWS, or Azure) for API hosting, monitoring, and management.

• Maintain strong documentation discipline and assist in troubleshooting complex API issues.

Qualifications & Skills

• 3–5+ years of hands-on experience with Apigee Edge or X.

• Strong expertise in API security, governance, and performance optimization.

• Proficient with CI/CD and automation tools for API lifecycle management.

• Experience with IaC and environment configuration for API management platforms.

• Knowledge of developer portal configuration and API onboarding processes.

• Programming skills in JavaScript and at least one of: Java, Python, Node.js.

• Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger, RESTful principles, JSON/XML, and schema validation.

• Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS/Azure a plus).

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills.

Preferred

• Certification in Apigee or relevant API management technologies.

• Experience with large-scale API projects or multi-environment deployments.
