Core Responsibilities

• Translate customer API vision into actionable architecture, design, and implementation plans.
• Drive API-first and contract-first design across services and system integrations.
• Research and introduce emerging API trends, tools, patterns, and accelerators.
• Ensure high-quality API designs and implementations before customer review.
• Establish and enforce API governance, standards, and lifecycle management best practices.
• Mentor and guide API developers on design standards, security, scalability, and performance.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate APIs into CI/CD pipelines with automated quality checks.
• Serve as the single point of accountability for API architecture decisions.

Required Technical & Functional Skills

• Proven experience as an API Architect with strong design and implementation expertise.
• Deep understanding of API-first, contract-first, and OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
• Hands-on experience with API management platforms (e.g., Azure API Management).
• Strong knowledge of REST, GraphQL, event-driven APIs, and microservices architecture.
• Expertise in API security standards including OAuth2, JWT, and mTLS.
• Experience with API governance frameworks and lifecycle management.
• Strong background in CI/CD automation, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep), and automated testing (unit, integration, contract, performance, security).
• Hands-on experience developing applications on Microsoft Azure Cloud.
• Ability to research, innovate, and implement new API patterns and technologies.
