Job Description
Required Skills/Experience
- Hands-on experience with Alation or similar data governance/catalog tools (Collibra, OvalEdge, etc.).
- Strong understanding of metadata management, data lineage, and data quality principles.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure, and modern data stack ecosystems.
- Proficiency with Agile methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence).
- 6+ years in data management, data governance, or product ownership roles.
- Strong communication, requirements gathering, and stakeholder management abilities.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the product roadmap for Alation data catalog initiatives.
- Align catalog capabilities with enterprise data strategy and business objectives.
- Work with data stewards, analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and drive catalog enhancements.
- Serve as the primary bridge between business and technical teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment.
- Create and manage a prioritized product backlog, writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Drive the adoption of metadata standards, data lineage, stewardship, and governance best practices using Alation.
- Ensure catalog content is accurate, current, and compliant with governance and policy requirements.
- Promote data literacy through training, documentation, onboarding, and internal advocacy.
- Define and track KPIs for catalog adoption, data quality improvements, and governance maturity.
- Collaborate with data engineers and architects to integrate Alation with enterprise data sources (Snowflake, AWS, pipelines using AWS Glue, etc.).
- Support automation of metadata ingestion, lineage extraction, and policy enforcement.
- Identify cost-effective improvement opportunities and recommend scalable solutions.
- Partner with Automation SME Lead to enhance team skills and maintain adherence to company policies.
- Develop and refine internal processes to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
- Escalate unresolved customer or operational issues to the Manager as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SQL and data modeling.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
- Background in financial services, asset management, or other regulated industries is a plus.
